Q. Do any of the beats on this site use samples from other songs? Must I get anything cleared before I can use the beat/instrumental?
A. No, we do not sample anything from other songs. Everything you get is 100% original/legit.
Q. Am I allowed to use the beat(s) that I purchased for my demo / mixtape / album / etc?
A. Yes. Check below for info on licensing restrictions.
Q. Are there any restrictions for using a beat I've purchased?
A. See below:
-If you are an upcoming/independent artist, film maker, broadcaster, etc., and/or not a member of ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, or any other performing rights organization, the restrictions are as follows:
For a Non-Exclusive license, you're allowed to sell up to 2500 CDs or commercial recordings. Once the limit is reached, you must re-lease the beat. For an Exclusive license, there are no restrictions to the amount of CDs/recordings you can sell.
-If you are an established/major artist, film maker, broadcaster, etc., and a member of ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, or any other performing rights organization, the restrictions are as follows:
For a Non-Exclusive license, you're allowed to sell an unlimited amount of CDs/commercial recordings, with 35-50% of the writer/composer royalties being paid to Sean B.; For a Exclusive license, you're allowed to sell an unlimited amount of CDs/commercial recordings, with 50% of the writer/composer royalties being paid to Sean B.
Note: If you are not sure which category you fall under, send an email to customerservice@sbtracks.com. All restrictions are negotiable.
Q. What are Non-Exclusive and Exclusive licenses?
A. A Non-Exclusive license means that a beat can be sold to more than one person. An Exclusive license means only one person can use the beat. Under BOTH licenses beat/instrumental credit must be given to Sean B.
Q. Can I purchase a Non-Exclusive beat with an Exclusive license?
A. Unfortunately, almost all Non-Exclusive beats posted on this site have been sold at least twice, which cancels out exclusivity.
Q. How do I distinguish between a Non-Exclusive and Exclusive license when purchasing a beat?
A. At the end of each song name, you'll see either an [NE] or [EX]. [NE] means Non-Exclusive license and [EX] means Exclusive license.
Example A: Beat #1234 (Genre: Hip Hop/Storytelling) [NE] [2:15] = Non-Exclusive license since it has a [NE].
Example B: Beat #5678 (Genre: Hip Hop/Dirty South) [EX] [4:18] = Exclusive license since it has an [EX].
Q. Is SBtracks.com affiliated with ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC?
A. Sean B. is registered with Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI) as a writer/composer.
Q. I bought a beat from here, but I would like to have the format changed (ex. - Change the current 8 bar hooks to 16 bar hooks). Can this be done?
A. Yes, after purchasing the beat, just send us a message under "Contact Us," or email customerservice@sbtracks.com and tell us what you need and it'll be done within 24 hours free of charge.
